The Court of the Vine is composed entirely of spirits associated with drugs, intoxication, and madness. It was formed during Prohibition after a long period of disenchantment which started after the 1906 Earthquake as the city tried to clean up its image. Relations improved during the 60s and 70s but then soured when the anti-drug backlash of the 80s occurred and the future of the urban courts seemed uncertain. The Court has spread and now consists of all such spirits in the Bay Area.
