Locus
Rex Argent Investments' offices on the 4th floor of the Transamerica Pyramid. Originally the site of the Montgomery Block, largest building west of the Mississippi, engineering marvel, and home to many of the original Silver Kings of the Comstock Lode as well as successful writers, artists, lawyers, engineers, scientists, and businessmen. It was the heart of the Barbary Coast and one of the few downtown survivors of the 1906 earthquake and fire. The Silver Kings claimed the locus which formed here not long after its construction in 1853 and has had it as their primary locus ever since, served well by its resonance. In 1959, the MacLellan Clan managed to get the building demolished and turned into a parking ramp. The Brotherhood of the Golden Mountain was unable to help due to the peace agreement they’d made with the Clan, though the Silver Kings can’t help but notice it helped establish Portsmouth Square as the heart of the city. It took the pack ten years to arrange for the construction of the Pyramid through back channels. By the time they took up residence on the fourth floor, in 1972, they had invested a lot of political and economic capital into the project.
