Storytelling Hints

Janice is deeply depressed but capable of hiding it well for the sake of others. She is dedicated to her duties to family and pack, but wishes for something more for herself. The affair is bringing her more happiness than she has felt since Kim died and she is loathe to let it go, even though she knows it can’t go on. She is quick with a smile and prone to flirt except when danger is afoot. Then she is cold, collected, and alert. She loves her siblings and her daughter dearly and is in somewhat afraid of her aunt, even through she loves her, too. She is incredibly protective of Kim’s son Joshua and is very upset he has joined the Castro pack. Things between them are rough because of how hard she tried to talk him out of it.

Background

Janice McShane was the one who took care of her siblings when their parents were murdered by a Bale Hound. Her First Change came at the same time as her cousin Kim and the two of them supported each other through it, with Janice looking up to the older, married woman. Everything changed during the Castro War. Kim was killed in front of her and her uncles died, making her beta of the decimated pack. Also, two of her younger siblings changed, requiring her guidance and strength to get them through it. Further, like her siblings, she was pressured into marriage with a cousin, Dr. Victor McShane, in order to repopulate the family tree. Their mostly loveless marriage produced one daughter, Cynthia, after a difficult pregnancy and several miscarriages. She has striven to survive and support her family during a life filled with misfortune, but has always envied the normalcy and happiness she sees around her. Her mood darkened when he daughter Changed, her hopes of a normal life for her dashed. A few months ago, she met Benjamin McShane, a young medical student her husband was sponsoring married to a cousin, and the two of them began an affair.

Recent Events

With the pack reorganization, she is the happiest she has been in years. All of the politics and tension is downtown while she is left with her sister, her friends, and her daughter.
