Plot

Hector Salazar is stalking Dierdre (or, more specifically, Fiona), leaving her offerings of corpses resembling characters from her books, dressed like they are in the books. The presence of the Winter Knight (and, thus, Mab's attention) leads to an uncharacteristic cold snap.

House Guest

  • Setup: Julia calls Tolliver to ask if she can stay with him for a week while she's evaluating Meili and Daisy, will arrive shortly via the Nevernever.

Awkward Meeting

New Client

  • Location: Hall of Justice
  • Participants: Gail Kendrick, Eva Dubois, Tracy Felton
  • Aspects: SNOW FLURRY
  • Setup: Gail calls Eva to ask for legal representation after she was arrested for murder. Police answering a call about a trespasser at Golden Gate Yacht Club, find a heart-less corpse of a woman and Gail, holding a knife with blood on it and occult trappings. Gail claims the blood was from the sacrifice of a bird (whose body was burned, as an offering) and she had no idea the body was there. The woman resembles Esmae Reed.

Lady Summons

  • Location: Buena Vista hill
  • Participants: Deirdre Donovan, Rowan
  • Aspects: SNOW FLURRY
  • Setup: Rowan summons Dierdre to the top of Buena Vista hill, where an elf with a striking resemblance to Aldon (from her books) is nailed to a tree with a railroad spike, his heart removed. She's also very irritated by the snow.

Special Delivery

  • Location: Dierdre's loft
  • Participants: Hector Salazar, Deirdre Donovan
  • Setup: Hector, disguised as a delivery man, delivers a package to Dierdre. It contains a delicately carved ivory box containing two hearts speared by a silver stiletto with a white rose and a note that says, "To Fiona, my love".

Bailed Out

  • Location: Eva's office
  • Participants: Eva Dubois, Gail Kendrick
  • Setup: Gail calls Eva to say she's been bailed out by a stranger who gave her a card with an unlisted number and the message, "If you need help with the council."

Debriefing

  • Location: Shrine of Vinyl
  • Participants: Julia Pritchard, Daisy Mae McGraw, Meili Lin, Robin Wheeler
  • Setup: Julia puts the girls on the case, as a test. She is firmly of the opinion that the necromancer did it and couches it more in terms of "bring her in" than "determine her guilt".

The Next Couple

  • Location: Dierdre's loft
  • Participants: Deirdre Donovan, Tracy Felton and her partner
  • Setup: After Gail is released on bail, the body of a woman resembling Bethany Williams is nailed to the dining room table with her heart cut out and left on the sideboard under the silver dome with another, both pierced by a silver stiletto, another white rose, another note, "To Fiona, my fated counterpart". The police will relate that a man's body was found, without his heart, at Fields occult bookstore. He resembles Thomas Baird.

Scenes (Session 2)

Interrogation

  • Location: Hall of Justice interrogation room (Sunday morning)
  • Participants: Deirdre Donovan, Eva Dubois, Tracy Felton
  • Setup: Deirdre is asked to come in for questioning. She and Gail are their prime suspects and Felton plays hard-ball.
  • Notes: Let's try and make a real social combat out of this. Deirdre and Eva want to get out of their without saying anything incriminating, Felton wants evidence she did it.

Confrontation

  • Location: Daisy's shop (Sunday morning)
  • Participants: Gail Kendrick, Daisy Mae McGraw
  • Setup: Gail storms in, demanding to know why Daisy is poking her nose in her business. Insinuates that someone is offering her protection but empathy will read she's scared of that option.

Social Visit

  • Location: Tolliver's house (Sunday morning)
  • Participants: Bo MacNeil, Tolliver Pritchard
  • Setup: Bo drops by to relate information on the trial of the Vandenbergs and ask about the current issues and if they need any help. Julia is with Wheeler.

Plea for Help

  • Location: Eva's office (Sunday afternoon)
  • Participants: Gail Kendrick, Eva Dubois, Alicia Reynolds
  • Setup: Gail is desperate for help against the White Council and wants assurances she isn't going to be executed. If they aren't provided, she's going to accept Larios' offer to be brought into the Red Court. Social combat? Figure out what Eva wants out of it. Gail is picked up by the police again after she leaves.

Arrest Warrant

  • Location: Shrine of Vinyl (Sunday afternoon)
  • Participants: Julia Pritchard, Daisy Mae McGraw, Meili Lin, Robin Wheeler
  • Setup: Julia asks the Wardens-in-Training to come and share what they've found. Meili has evidence that Gail has experimented with raising the freshly dead, using animals. Julia wants her brought in. Afterwards, she dismisses Daisy, saying, "I have to talk to these two."

Couples Therapy (Off-Screen)

  • Location: Shrine of Vinyl (Sunday afternoon)
  • Participants: Julia Pritchard, Meili Lin, Robin Wheeler
  • Setup: Julia says that Meili's performance is being hampered by her love for Rob, which she puts out on the table. Rob is surprised but reciprocates, Meili finally admits it to herself. Julia opines that they shouldn't work together as Wardens, Meili disagrees.

First Contact

  • Location: Golden Gate Bridge (Sunday night at midnight)
  • Participants: Deirdre Donovan, Hector Salazar
  • Aspects: COLD AND WINDY, HALF-MOON, FLURRIES
  • Setup: Hector leaves a note at Eva's apartment: "My love, Meet me on Golden Gate Bridge at midnight. H.S." He expresses his love for her as his mentor, asks how she liked the gifts, says they need to be together.

Chat with the Boss

  • Location: Golden Gate Bridge (Monday morning, shortly after midnight)
  • Participants: Rowan, Deirdre Donovan
  • Setup: Rowan appears to chat about what Deirdre intends to do, suggests killing him or fucking him. Will mention the formal declaration of war, if asked. It was on the elf that was killed.

The Conversation

  • Location: Tolliver's house (Monday morning)
  • Participants: Julia Pritchard, Tolliver Pritchard
  • Setup: Julia, despairing of the choices for Warden, tries to convince Tolliver to throw his hat in the ring. Compliments the life he has here and won't ask him to return home, but "these people need leadership". Compel his aspects.

First Assault

  • Location: Eva's office (Monday morning)
  • Participants: Hector Salazar, Eva Dubois
  • Zones: Reception, Conference Room, Offices (2), Cubicles (4), Library, Hall, Bathroom
  • Setup: Hector is there in the morning, waiting for her. One of the paralegals called in sick, Alicia is hiding in the bathroom, all other employees (secretary, law clerk, and one of the two paralegals) are dead. He tries to kill her.

Killer's Hideout

  • Location: Natural Botanicals
  • Participants: Hector Salazar, 6 blue ogres, Sky Harper
  • Zones: Shop, Behind the Counter, Storeroom, Stairs, Hall, Bedroom, Bathroom, Kitchen, Sitting Room, Balcony
  • Aspects: LOTS OF BOTTLES (Shop, Storeroom), GAS STOVE (Kitchen)
  • Setup: It is fairly likely the PCs will try tracking Hector at some point or just stumble on him as Sky's. One ogre is in the shop (smelling bottles), three are in the storeroom playing cards, and two are upstairs in the kitchen eating. Hector is in Sky's bedroom, torturing her (the ice manacles holding her prevent her from using Summer Magic). Hector world-walks once he's taken higher than a mild consequence or if all the ogres are killed.

A Friendly Call

  • Location: Wherever Eva is (Monday evening)
  • Participants: Angelina Alonso, Eva Dubois
  • Setup: Angelina calls Eva to tell her that she's no longer needed as Gail's lawyer and to inform the White Council that she's under the Red Court's protection.

Second Assault

  • Location: Daisy's shop (Monday night)
  • Participants: Hector Salazar
  • Zones: Shop (x2), Behind the Counter, Nook, Work Room, Stairs, Hallway, Living Room, Kitchen, Bedroom, Bathroom, Fire Escape
  • Aspects: CROWDED WITH WEIRD SHIT (Store)
  • Setup: Hector is waiting in her bedroom when she gets home, having used World-Walking to bypass her wards.

The Winter Lady

  • Location: The Nevernever
  • Participants: Maeve, Hector Salazar, Winter courtiers
  • Aspects: WINTER WONDERLAND, FREEZING COLD
  • Setup: The PCs may try and approach Maeve for redress after assaults. She will claim that attacks on Eva were justified under rules of hospitality (she is required to protect her guest, thus is subject to attack). She will also claim that what's occurring is a conflict between Faerie Courts and that the PCs have interjected themselves in it, promising them no future trouble if they withdraw. If pressed, she'll happily have Hector execute some courtiers as "payment" for deaths.
