Michael is married to Julie, a mounted police officer with the Park Station, with whom he has had three children: Jesse (13), Rachel (11), and Andrew (9). He is brother to Gary, Janice, Sean, and Lynn. Killed by Phillip Hellstrom on Friday, September 14, 2007 after his face was taken.

Hishu

A very fit man in his late-30s with medium length wild red hair and short sideburns, gray eyes, and freckles. He wears black t-shirts, jeans, and white sneakers. Around his neck is a clear crystal on a thin chain (Mercy Gem) and his wedding band never comes off his right ring finger.

Storytelling Hints

Mike is a good man, dedicated to his family, his pack, and his territory. The anger of his youth has been channeled into a tireless drive. He can be a bit intense, in person, but comes off as sincere and friendly. He has a love of sports and though his competitive days are over, he has encouraged all three of his children to persue martial arts and be active. His wife and they go horseback riding every weekend in the park. He is very close to both his sisters and utterly in awe of his aunt, whom he obeys without question. He’s very protective of his neice, whom he worries about incessantly.

Background

Michael Phelan was eight when his parent were murdered and grew up angry at everyone for allowing it to happen. He was an aggressive adolescent with a bad temper, which his sister directed into martial arts to attempt to harness and control. Matters only got worse during the Castro War, which he spent sitting at home feeling useless while his family members risked their lives and died. At first, they thought the nightmares were just a result of this, but then they recognized his coming First Change and tried to hide him in a safe place, but when it came he ran fast and hard and saw the end of the last battle himself. He saw his sister brutally injured and his cousin Kim slaughtered and he howled to the pregnant moon. The distraction bought the Tribes of the Moon a chance to retreat. Since then, he has burned with a dedication to his family and his pack, consumed by a need to protect them and rally them to war against their enemies. He married as he was told after the war, a mounted police officer named Julie whom he has grown to love, and they have three children, to whom he is fiercely dedicated. While Janice is beta, it is he who leads the pack into combat.

Recent Events

When Tess bested Hugh and took control of the family, she asked Mike to accompany her downtown to act as beta of the Silver Kings. Mike accepted, but isn't happy about it. His family is remaining in Inner Sunset and he is commuting. He is wary of Hugh and thinks Tess is being too heavy-handed with him. He doesn't want to interject himself into the Valkyries, however, so feels he has little choice than to do as he's been asked.
