Description

Hishu

A short, scarred, muscular Chicano man in his late 40s with long black hair in a braid to his ass, Pancho Villa moustache and stubble, and medium skin. He wears a white wife-beater, flannel shirt with only the top button done, red bandana, black jeans with a red belt, and steel-toed work boots. When it is sunny, he wears a sombrero with a red band. There is a tattoo of 'XIV' on his left hand, between thumb and forefinger. On his right hand is a tattoo of a cat's eye (Kanruth's Eye fetish) and on his lower arm, a long-stemmed rose. On his back is a large tattoo of himself, his nephews, and his brother (The Four of Us fetish). A serpent tattoo (Serenity of Battle fetish) winds around his lower left arm, just like his brother's. His initiation scar is over his heart. He has a gravely voice and a fairly pronounced accent, which can make him difficult to understand at times.

Storytelling Hints

Machete, despite his background, is a peacemaker by nature. While he's willing to use threats of force (and force) to get both sides to agree to settle their differences, he is happier when things are in their place. He's a somewhat surly man, with a tendency towards using Spanish profanity, and the cast of his features and bearing suggest he's being threatening, regardless of the topic. He is fiercly loyal to his family and his pack and true to his word, which he does not give lightly. His code of conduct is a highly idealized version of gang ethics and he adheres to these principles more than any common street thug. He respects his alpha highly and gives him the loyalty due a liege lord. He is a bit suspicious of Teresa, though he also admires her abilities (as much as it stung his pride to be bumped from the ritemaster position initially). He jokingly refers to her as 'Bruja', an appellation which the younger members of the pack have adopted. He likes Gabriela, particularly because of the hell she gives to her father. He thinks it is good that someone in the pack can talk to him like that.

Background

Alejandro's parents came to San Francisco in the mid 1950s, a Blood Talon newly inducted to the Lodge of the Rose and his wife, looking for a new pack and ending up sworn to Ignacio Aguirre. He was the third of four children: Agustin was the eldest, Carmela (Jose and Carlos' mother) was second, and Alicia (Maggie and Christoval's mother) was the youngest. Times were difficult and the boys ran wild. Agustin became something of an aimless drifter with a bad temper until he changed, which only worsened his problems. Alejandro ended up running with gang members and was sent to prison shortly after his nineteenth birthday, where he became an official member of the Norteños and then Changed. Luckily, the Hard Timers pack working out of San Rafael was able to help him and he was inducted into the Lodge of Silence. When he got out, he returned to the Mission, joined his father's pack, and eventually his lodge. He maintained his connection with the Norteños and was quickly folded into Ignacio's criminal enterprises, acting as a heavy, messenger, and courier, as needed. In return, his alpha set him up with a garage so he could persue a career as a mechanic, a skill he learned in prison. He was very happy with the arrangement and finally healed some of the rifts he'd formed with his family. He fought hard in the Castro War, though it put him on the outs with the pack totem until he atoned for the death of a Predator King he faced. His father died during the war, as did Ignacio, and he found himself an unlikely beta to the heir. Despite his misgivings about Pascual, he soon learned that the man was not the spoiled son of privilege as he had originally though and the two have long since cemented their friendship. Machete, as he is now called, has taken his nephews under his wing and tries to keep an eye on his niece and older brother as much as he can, though he's still angry at Maggie for leaving the pack. As a favor to his brother, he taught Angel how to make tattoo fetishes despite his dislike of the woman. He has a couple of girlfriends and one daughter by a third, but doesn't get too close to or serious with anyone. He particularly makes pains to avoid being connected with his daughter, though he is meticulous about seeing that she's well taken care of.
