The Court of the Vine has a strong presence in the mountains as it is a American Viticultural Area and has a strong countercultural atmosphere as the site of the LSD parties of the Merry Pranksters.
Description
The mountains appear as towering slabs of rock with trees and plants clinging to them, when the deign to appear at all.
Storytelling Hints
It cares little for the politics and concerns of short-lived beings, keeping only the company of other ancient elementals and members of the tree choir. It has a strong dislike of the Big One and it is thought that the mountains are the force which keeps it in check, trapped beneath the earth. The 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake angered it and it has had a grudge against the Mountain-Walkers for having precipitated the event.

Background
This mountain range is one of the oldest spirits in the area, born when the plates crashed together and pushes the land upwards. It is the strongest natural location spirit in the Bay Area besides the Bay itself and has a long history with that spirit as well as Grandfather Fog, and the redwoods descant of the Tree Choir. It takes a very long view, though it is sympathetic to the plights of those spirits close to it which are more strongly affected by the day-to-day events of the human world.
