Minor Incarna, Elemental Spirit, Earth Choir

Description

The Big One always manifests as a great stoney maw forming in the ground.

Storytelling Hints

This spirit isn’t the sort to hold conversations. If it is disturbed, it will jerk into fitful wakefulness and devour the strongest spirits in the general vicinity of the fault. It is a spirit of destruction, pure and simple, and cannot be persuaded to spare any within its grasp.

Background

The spirit of the San Andreas Fault, also known as the Dragon Emperor by members of its court, was an earthquake Jaggling prior to the 19th century and gained its current statue only after the destruction of San Francisco in 1906 and the fear it generated in the inhabitants of all cities along the length of its fault. It isn’t a particularly active spirit, spending most of its time in hibernation, but its spiritual form stirs more often than events in gurihal would suggest. Occasionally, the ground opens up and a spirit along its length is devoured, after which it settles back into its long sleep. The Big One is feared and hated by the members of the other courts, who will work together in order to keep it from waking.
