The Alder Baroness Joanna Prescott, Daeva Priscus, Librettist, and Advisor
Storytelling Hints
The Baroness is a genuinely warm and amiable person, interesting and charming if a bit haughty at times where her own achievements are concerned. She maintains a deep religious faith which is the source of her derangement and she frequently confesses to Father Alexius, who has reported details of her instability to his superior. She takes great joy in discovering new talent and seeing that it thrives. Most of her success is attributed to a rare (for Kindred) passion for her function.

Background
Joanna was born (1831) poor but with a great passion for music. She worked hard for the singing lessons she received and practiced with her violin until her fingers bled. While she received some local fame, she would never go far without a patron and that is what she found when she was about to succumb to cholera (1850). Her sire took her to his home and gave her every opportunity she could want and she excelled. By the time she was released (1875) she was not only a skilled musician but a connisseaur of art in general, trained to recognize and nourish talent wherever it showed itself. In time, though, she grew restless and wanted to make a name for herself rather than be forever in the shadow of her mentor, so she left for San Francisco (1920) to establish herself as a Librettist. Her stay there started out well but was endangered when she sided with the Bishop over the Prince during the trouble in 1935. While she came out of it with a position on the Primogen, her relationship with the Invictus ruler was harmed. It took years of sustained effort to warm him to her again, mostly through the hosting of elaborate venues for him to indulge his interest in art. Her efforts were not wasted, though, as not only did she regain the Prince’s favor, she also obtained a title of tribute (1985).
=Recent Events
The Baroness current paige, Luis Sandino, is considered by many to be more a personal project than a pursuit of artistic talent due to his rather modern and unconventional artform. Those aware of her religious underpinnings suggest his ministrations are addressing some deep-seated guilt. They are correct. His embrace was only approved by Charles because he owed her a debt for a particularly coveted piece of art.
