Background

Perversion was born of the judgments of good, church-going people at the depravities of the Barbary Coast. It fed off their disapproval of opium dens, prostitution, and drunkenness. But the true bounty came with the counterculture movement. Pot-smoking hippies, drag queens, and leathermen fed it well and now it feeds off of the discomfort generated by the most liberal inhabitants of the city. At Liberal Anxiety's urging, however, it has also learned to feed off of the disgust felt by those holding liberal views towards those with more conventional views, like the disgust felt by vegans when contemplating carnivores.
