Fire-Terror claimed Darcy McShane in 1906.

Description

A blackened corpse burning with blue and white flames.

Storytelling Hints

This spirit thrives off of the terror that uncontrolled fire induces in all animals. It finds a victim and tortures them with mental images of burning. It mixes illusions of fire with the real thing, trying to drive its prey into catatonic fear so that it can drain it dry.

Background

Fire-Terror was born of the fires which periodically destroyed the young city of San Francisco. It grew hand-in-hand with the Great Fire, serving as its herald and high priest. Every time it set the city ablaze, Fire-Terror danced in the inferno and fed off of its poor victims. It joined Great Fire in its alliance with the Keepers of the First Flame and, when the earthquake of 1906 set the city to burn again, it went with them through the streets as they fought their enemy and among the rubble found a truly appropriate victim, granddaughter of the leader of their enemy, huddling in a shattered house, unable to move for the fire surrounding her. It took her as its own and, within hours, she was gone, lost to the terror which consumed her. Thus, Fire-Terror became duguthim and went on to become an Elder of the Church of the Lighthouse, allied with spirits of disease and plague.
