Her manner is cynical, frank, and vulgar. She smells of beer and sex and looks like she's standing in shadows, even when she's not.

Background

Mortal Life

Annie Taylor was a music student at UNLV who was disappointed in her lack of natural talent. She had dreams of being a great musician but despite her efforts it wasn't happening. So, one night, she followed some instructions she'd overheard some goths at the cafeteria discussing. To her surprise, it worked and she bargain with the Devil (Mr. Fortune) for musical talent. She was whisked away. She was nineteen and it was 1992.

Durance

She found herself in the desert kingdom of the Prince of Sands, where she was given the talent she desired, but also learned that he had no plans to ever let her go. In her surprise and eagerness, she hadn't grasped the real terms of her contract with Mr. Fortune and was bound to the Prince for eternity. She tried to make the best of her imprisonment and he seemed to go out of his way to make it pleasant, and she did in fact enjoy it for several years until the weight of it grew on her and she yearned to go home and see her family again. Then she met Horse and the two became friends and allies. In time, they were able to escape across the desert to Sin City and found themselves in 2003.

Changeling Life

Annie immediately rejected the concept of more restrictions on her life that the Sun Court represented and joined the Moon Court with Horse, a choice made even easier after they befriended Lady Scarlet and her mentor Dame Anastasia. She found that her fetch had finished school and was now married and working as a music teacher in Reno. With Horse's help, she made a trip to the city through the Hedge to meet her. They talked and she found her fetch to be a decent person, sad she couldn't have children and supportive of her husband and Annie's family. She opted to leave her be and returned to Las Vegas, but was without an identity and a place in the world. She began to do drugs, have random sexual encounters, and grew increasingly dependent on the rush of emotion that glamour gave her, craving gigs so that she could feed off of the crowd. Her exploits got her arrested on one occasion. She used her contracts to escape and her fetch ended up being arrested on the warrant subsequently issued. Once she was out on bail, she hired a private investigator who eventually found her apartment. Her fetch confronted her one night at her home after she came back drunk and high on drugs and glamour and, in the ensuing argument, Annie killed her. The mess took a year to clean up. In the end, she'd paid her fines, served a few weeks in holding, and divorced her fetch's husband. But she had her identity back and consoled herself with that. She's still living her life for the rush of glamour, with drinking and drugs a secondary balm when she's between gigs. The only rock giving her life steadiness is her motley. She is close to them all but has a special fondness for Marv. They've had several ill-advised drunken trysts but that's it. She loves him, but won't admit it, and he's not sharp enough to figure out how she feels.
