Kim is an inspector with the SFPD Homocide Unit. Her partner is Mark Beggs.
Description
A short, athletic Chinese woman in her early 30s with short black hair, green eyes, and a confrontational manner. She favors pastel blouses, hip-hugging slacks, and expensive sneakers. She always wears her wedding ring and a platinum and diamond pendant that was a gift from her husband on their tenth wedding anniversary. In bad weather, she wears a navy blue windbreaker with hood.
Storytelling Hints
Kim is suspicious and aggressive as a police officer, tending to assume the worst of people until proven otherwise. This makes her a nice counterbalance to Mark's more generous approach and the two have an unintentional good cop-bad cop thing going, which their superiors have noted and is the reason they were put together. Kim is generally conservative with a respect for authority that is the opposite of Mark's inbred skepticism, leading to a lot of arguments over politics. Neither takes them too seriously. Once, at a colleagues birthday party, they got drunk and had sex in his car. Both agree it was a mistake and have no desire to repeat it. She respects his experience and instincts completely, even if she disagrees with his politics.

Background
Kim was always an A-type personality, driven to achieve. She was an excellent student and star athlete in school. When she entered the academy, she graduated at the top of her class. Looking for tough assignments, she ended up at the Tenderloin Station for six years and excelled before becoming an inspector and being assigned to work with Mark. She always wanted to be a cop, her firm sense of right and wrong practically demanding it, though her family practically disowned her for not attending college. She is married but has no children, her husband as dedicated to his career as a bank executive as she is to hers. The two spend all of their spare time together, enjoying his money on trips to wine country or to fine restaurants. Both enjoy theater and concerts and they have a small art collection he started as an investment but has built mostly through gifts to her. She is well known locally for a big interdepartmental drug bust she took part in right before she made inspector where her cool nerves kept several cops from getting killed. She is an avid jogger and does so twice a day.
