Background
Jerome was the son of a prostitute whose still held enough religious conviction to not get rid of the child, raised in the brothel as their mascot and, eventually, as a bouncer. His greed got the better of him and he killed the owner and took over as a pimp in his own right, aggressively recruiting street kids, drug addicts, and runaways. His success was noted by Mia when she moved into the neighborhood and she systematically ruined his life before approaching him with one last chance out before the police put him away.
