Azarath (Hybrid)
The Dark Mother lives in the Squatter's House.
Description
Six-legged and with a fatty, rounded abdomen, the Dark Mother is a gigantic tarantula from the waist down, and an old woman from the waist up. Her long, grey hair is matted with grease, blood and filth, and numerous scars from the affectionate bites of her spawn and the struggles of her victims dot her human skin. The six furry arachnid legs that support her scarred abdomen are thick and capable of crushing force.
Storytelling Hints
She is a ravenous creature who cares only to eat and lay more eggs, leaving the reinforcement of the Gauntlet and the hunting to her children.

Background
The Dark Mother has been here for a century, the cache of eggs containing her and her hundreds of sisters disturbed during the Great Earthquake. She woke and consumed all of them but one, the strongest of the nest. She than merged with the elderly woman who owned the house and began to welcome in vagrants, travelers, and runaways, consuming some and sending the others out with tales of the kind old lady who always had an open door for a weary soul. By the 70s, she had tranformed too much to pass for human and her house fell into disrepair. They still came, but thought the house abandoned while she lurked in the basement and ate those she could catch without alarming the others. Then, in the early 80s, she was blessed with a new transformation, developing an egg sac. She consumed many of her first broods, but kept the strongest and sent them into the world, as spies or, in hosts, as agents to draw in new blood after the house got a reputation. The homeless began to speak of some inhabitants of the house “going Renfieldâ€, eating spiders and gaining odd quirks and habits. By the turn of the century, most of the homeless had stopped coming. However, the cleverest of the Dark Mother’s children, the Eye-Eater, found a new group: the street kids. They didn’t have access to the same lore and so, for the last few years, she has been rounding them up and bringing them back to the house. The Dark Mother has acquired a taste for the flesh of children and is beginning to grow a new brood.
