Description

Hishu

A tall, muscular Chinese man in his early 60s with long black hair in an intricate braid to his waist, brown eyes, and a number of small scars on his face and hands. He wears an expensive black suit with a red shirt, grey vest, and black tie. He has a red cord around his right wrist and an expensive watch on his other. He generally carries a hatchet concealed under his long black trenchcoat. He has a stern demeanor but is very soft spoken. He has a massive bite scar on his left side and several missing ribs, causing his chest to appear malformed when exposed. He has a circular scar on his chest where Don Aguirre bested him in a duel.

Urhan

A large black wolf with small scars on its face.

Storytelling Hints

Sun is a proud man who was raised to believe that he was of the caste of nobles within the Uratha with a duty to lead through strength. He sees members of the other tribes as those of lesser caste. He is slow to admit another's superiority, particularly if they aren't a Storm Lord, but isn't stupid. Martial strength isn't everything. He will bide his time to bring resources to bear if outmatched. He is in any conflict for the long haul.

Background

Sun was born into an ancient line of werewolves which had claimed territory in the early days of Hong Kong and was tied strongly with the triads (particularly the Wo Group). Half of the bloodline was Storm Lords and the other Ivory Claws and the two sides of the family fought viciously over territory, wolf-blooded, and criminal influence. Sun proved himself at a young age within one of the local tongs and when he changed, he was moved up to become an enforcer (or Red Stick) of the triad, working primarily in the Kowloon Walled City. He proved so promising that his family tasked him with going to America to establish the influence of the family, lodge, and triad there. He took with him a select pack of other young Storm Lords and they arrived in San Francisco in 1970. Once there, they settled into Sunset with many of the fresh off the boat Chinese immigrants, but set their eyes immediately on the heart of Chinese culture in the city: Chinatown. Openly challenging the power of Jiang and his Golden Mountain Protectorate, they set about building a criminal empire from the disparate tongs and street gangs in the heart of the city, forming the Wah Ching.

The pack's criminal proxies controlled crime in Chinatown through the 70s and 80s while the two packs fought for dominance. With the onset of the Castro War, Sun sat down with Jiang and the other alphas of the Protectorate and brokered a cease-fire, bringing his pack to the war effort. While they were spared the slaughter of the first Predator King ambush, they were decimated on the night of the earthquake when one of their guardian spirits betrayed them and their locus was attacked, the building burned, and three of their six members killed. When the Predator Kings broke off in order to assist the Hellstroms, Sun rallied his two remaining packmates and pursued, forcing them to stop and fight. He was nearly killed by a primal form Pure but refused to withdraw until the Phelan's howls of triumph led to the Pure retreating back to Mount Bruno. Miraculously, both of his companions survived and they went home to rebuild.

Too weak to continue his challenge against Jiang, Sun accepted the elder werewolf's offer to join the Protectorate under the condition he be allowed to maintain his criminal structure within the city. Jiang agreed, so long as the violence ended. Sun's eldest son married a Jin Uratha in order to close the deal and then he spent the 90s dismantling the Wah Ching and replacing them with members of the triad, transitioning from gang leader to criminal businessman. He is currently biding his time, waiting for Jiang to show any sign of weakness so that he can make a bid for leader of the Protectorate. In the meantime, he has spread his influence and family throughout the Bay Area so that he now rivals the Jin influence in the region, particularly in the East Bay. Within the Protectorate, he acts as Jiang's primary adviser, watching particularly for signs of weakness. He is highly critical of the Devotees of Wen-Chang, in particular, and there is no love lost between he and John.

Renown

  • Honor 4: Brokered a cease-fire between his family and Jiang's in order to take part in the Castro War.
  • Honor 5: Led the remains of his pack to attack the retreating Predator Kings after the surprise attack on their locus, to prevent them from providing reinforcements to the Castro Fire-Touched. He was almost killed but refused to retreat before the Pure.
