Duguthim

Ray was claimed by Gay Plague and was killed by the pack.

Description

A vibrantly healthy Caucasian man in his late 40s with dark brown hair that is going grey in a distinguished way at the temples, salt-and-pepper beard and moustache, brown eyes, and a ruddy complexion, almost feverish. He wears starched white shirts, black slacks, and dress shoes. His ties are usually dark in color, black, brown, or navy blue. When he speaks, he is very animated and has an intensity that many would call insane or fervored. He smells off, like someone sick, but human senses don’t pick it up because of the cologne he wears to mask it.

Storytelling Hints

A true believer, but not in what he speaks. He is an excellent liar and, if pressed, will claim to believe that he has sold his soul to hell to save himself, sacrificing others so that he can continue to live. He’ll speak of the uncontrollable needs of the spirit within him to buy himself time by playing to his enemy’s sympathies. In truth, though, his humanity is long since gone and only the spirit amalgam remains and it has no desire to stop feeding off of the Essence of the dying.

Background

Raymond Turner was desparate not to die when he found out he had AIDS. Lingering guilt about his homosexuality convinced him that he was destined to hell and that AIDS was God’s wrath. It wasn’t hard for the Church to recruit him and get as much assent as they needed to offer him to the Gay Plague as a vessel. When they merged, the 30 year old man’s mind was shattered and the Church and his new spirit host helped to rebuild it. Now, the nascent faith of Ray Turner serves the lodge and his charisma helps to bring new members in every day with promises of a cure or, more often, a peaceful death. He feeds off of the Essence of their illness and slow death and, ever so often, uses his influence to stave off the illness in a particularly receptive member in order to gain their undying allegiance to the church. He preaches that faith is the key. Lack it, and the illness will take you. Have it, and you will live. To those who serve him, he is a healer, a prophet, and a saint.
