Storytelling Hints
The Promise lives its principles with a sort of desperation born of the many assaults it suffers on both sides of the Gauntlet. Those who come to the hill are often clinging to a thread of a dream and it does all it can to keep those alive. Times have been very difficult and it struggles to survive. It clings to the Court of the Phoenix but hasn’t got much to offer, but it does what it can. Currently, it has found allies at the Pink Elephant Commune, though its nature doesn’t allow it to become a permanent resident. It often has a hard time meeting its tithe to San Francisco.

Background
The Promise of Freedom began as the spirit of a dream, born during the Gold Rush, and persevered through the years, feeding off hopes and dreams. During the Summer of Love, it was drawn to the Haight and hasn’t left since. It is on very good terms with the spirit of the neighborhood, often doing errands for it in return for access to its locus. Generally, it can be found on Hippy Hill, where is tries to nurture the candleflames of hope in those who come there, primarily the homeless.
