Description
Hishu
An older Chinese woman in her late-40s, with her hair up in traditional style with gold flower hairpins, green eyes, and powdered skin. She wears a blue and gold silk brocade cheongsam dress with a dragon and phoenix motif. It is sleeveless, with a slit right side, half back, and a mandarin collar. Over it, she wears a gold silk gauze shawl. On her feet are blue silk slippers and around her neck is a crystal on a delicate gold chain (Purity Jewel fetish). She has a dignified and formal bearing and a cool, almost cruel, set to her face.
Urhan
A dark brown wolf with a white underbelly, black tips to her ears and tail, and greying around her muzzle.
Storytelling Hints
Penny is a very private man who keeps to himself. He doesn't work with the rest of the pack much, preferring to cultivate his spiritual contacts himself according to the ways he was taught. He is a bit bitter about the lack of respect they show him, but tries not to let it bother him. He is an accomplished chef with epicurean tastes and it is his primary indulgence, the other being the men he dates, a particular type attracted to his particular style, whom he pampers, feeding, bathing, and caring for them. The relationships generally don't last long, the novelty wearing off for many people quickly, particularly since he isn't a young man anymore, but they satisfy him and his appetites. In person, Penny is generally soft-spoken and formal. He is loyal to the pack leaders, though they often don't see eye to eye. He likes Maggie quiet a bit as they have similar lifestyles in many respects, just at opposite ends of the spectrum. He is fond of Joshua, because he is young and full of fire, but worries about having such an inexperienced Uratha in the pack.

Background
Ping Jin was born into an illustrious line of Taishanese Bone Shadows which has inhabited Chinatown since the city's inception and which follows the tenets of the Lodge of the Endless Moon. Ping was brought up with full knowledge of his lineage and the precepts of his clan. His family was there throughout his First Change when he was 19 and he was immediately apprenticed to an ancient Elodath who taught him how to be a diplomat to the spirit world. He was married a year later to a cousin so that he might continue the line. His wife, Ru, bore him a son the next year and the elders of the clan were pleased. However, Ping had a secret, a part of himself which he carefully hid except when he snuck out of their territory to visit the clubs in Folsom or the Castro. By the time the Castro War broke, his marriage was at an end. In defiance of his pack, he divorced him wife and joined the war party being gathered by the Phelans and the Mission pack. While he wasn't a warrior, his knowledge of spirits and his contacts within the spirit world served well. After the War (which resulted in the death of his father), he joined the new Castro pack and stepped into his new life, taking the name and female persona Penny. He has been an invaluable member of the pack, though they generally do not agree with the level of respect and deference he shows spirits who perform their functions. They are able to agree with the fury he shows those who transgress. Over the last seventeen years, he has cultivated the spirit world extensively. Though it isn't quite as tame as Chinatown's Hisil, it is much more so than the surrounding territories. The local spirits inform him of suspicious behavior and are rewarded with the pack's protection, though there are still deep pockets of chaotic spiritscape to root out and the order is always being whiddled away by the Beshilu.
Recent Events
Penny isn't sure what she thinks of Lee being the alpha. She doesn't have a clear picture yet of how Lee handles the spirits in her domain, so is reserving judgment for the time being, but she tends to like her and can't deny that Gay Pride approves. Also, she was very impressed that Lee tanked her military career to marry her lover and feels a bond with her over it (as well as owing her for introducing her to her husband).
