Lingering Death was urging Helen Vern, a mother of the Church of the Lighthouse and director of the Vern and Sons Funeral Home, before she was killed by the pack. By agreement with the pack, it is now head of the Hospice Brood and controls the Universal Faith Free Clinic and Hospice.

This spirit is concerned only with reminding people that death is ever-present and making sure that when the moment comes, it is not quick. It doesn't care about suffering, just the awareness of mortality.

Background

Lingering Death represents death as a constant and undeniable presence, both drawing out the experience of the dying and reminding mortal beings of their eventual demise. It has been in the city for some time and isn't unique in its aspect, but was on the road to gaining considerable power and influence before the Universal Faith Free Clinic and Hospice was closed.
