Background
Janis' fetch found itself with a dying, crippled body and only a few short years to live. Rather than giving in to despair or bitterness, it has fought hard to get what it can from what fate has dealt it. Janis' family saw her gradual slip into despair halt, to be replaced by a renewed willingness to fight. The last two years, she has used her contacts in the medical community to get on trials for experimental chemotherapy and has started aggressive dietary and occupational therapy regiments to try and control her arthritis. She's so far seem only limited results, but has been living her life regardless, refusing to be defined by her conditions. She's become an avid driver, purchasing a sports car and spending weekends taking long drives through Death Valley. She's also taken up shooting as part of her chemotherapy, spending a couple nights a week at a firing range. She enjoys her family, who is heartened by her changed attitude, but is wary of the return of the real Janis. She's unwilling to give up what she's fought so hard for to someone who gave it up.
