Imperator's Sanctum

Located in a cave under the Marin Headlands. The entrance is located in a veiled (Legendary (+8)) half-buried squat concrete bunker with a reinforced steel door. The bunker is a small room half lit by a hanging lamp. The dark half of the room contains a spiral staircase down to a Good (+3) sanctum. In the sanctum is a stone chute that empties under the water of the Golden Gate. It is also veiled (Legendary (+8)) against discovery.

Wards

First Ward (Detection)

This is a veiled (Legendary (+8)), weak (Mediocre (+0)) ward cast on a buried copper cable circle within sight of the entrance of his sanctum. It performs a mind-reading on anyone who crosses it (Legendary (+8) versus Discipline) to determine the nature of the intruder and sets off Gideon's mobile wardflame (a delicate crystal sphere which hums), which he immediately destroys. Contact with the sphere lets him review what is pulled from people's minds.

Second Ward (Defense)

This is an Legendary (+8) ward with an embedded psychomantic landmine (Fantastic (+6) Weapon:6 mental attack versus the Discipline of everyone in the zone, attacking their memories) cast on the sanctum itself, triggered by entering the bunker or the submerged tunnel.

Third Ward (Self-Destruct)

This is an incredibly delicate veiled (Legendary (+8)) ward cast on the threshold between the lit and dark halves of the room behind the door. It is weak (Mediocre (+0)) but contains an Legendary (+8) Weapon:8 necromantic hell-lightning landmine that will destroy the sanctum below.

Gideon is meticulously careful (Fantastic (+6) to discover evidence) not to leave evidence of himself here. If the self-destruct is triggered, the difficulty to find evidence is increased to Legendary (+8).
