Background

Mortal Life

Gary Foster was the distant descendant of a member of the Donner Party who had bargained for his own survival by promising seven children of the seventh generation of his descendants to a yeti he met while foraging for food. When Gary came of age, a strong young man with aspirations of being a police officer, the yeti came to collect him. It was the Blizzard of '77 and Gary got lost in the snow. What emerged was not him.

Durance

Taken back to the cold, stark mountain realm of the Faerie, he fought his cousins for the right to survive, eating of their frozen flesh when nothing else was available to sustain him. The horror of it is still with him in perfect crystalline detail to this day. Then, one day when his Keeper left him alone to venture out into a raging storm, he fled and found his way home. He emerged from the Blizzard of '85 to find his life inhabited by a simulacrum: a police officer, husband, and loving son to his parents. Enraged as he was, Gary couldn't bear to hurt these people who he didn't know anymore and who would barely recognize him, huge hairy creature that he had become.

Changeling Life

Gary wandered listlessly through the Hedge until found by a member of the Bishopric who took him in, concerned for his sanity and his health. With he new mentor, he found his calling and he became one of the Bishops as soon as they would have him, but had been doing their work for a long while before. He has proven to be one of the more stable, honest, and reliable members of the group and has developed many contacts within the freehold.
