There are two ways to the City of Light: The Pilgrim's Road, which leads south to join the Ring Road, or the Great River, which leads north to Fluminum. The City itself is small, just big enough to house the Temple on its hill (out of which the river runs) and the Templar barracks, and heavily fortified.

Inhabitants

Solis has few inhabitants. The Cardinals and Monks are the only permanent residents. The Templars come here for training and there is a large garrison stationed here, but most of them are assigned to other settlements. Priests come here for their rites but most of their training is done in the university in Silvarum. Most of the population at any given time consists of pilgrims and supplicants who are housed in monastery-like structures for the duration of their stay. The rest of the city consists of gorgeous gardens, statues of saints, and small courtyards where the cardinals hear the petitions of the supplicants. A river emerges from the north side of the hill on which the Temple stands and flows out of the city past small docks which receive river travelers from Fluminum.

The Temple of Light

On a steep hill in the center of the city is the Temple of Light. A simple structure of white stone, it stands in stark contrast to the rather more grand and gothic cathedrals of the Inner Sea or even the richly decorated churches of the Outer See. It is almost primal in its simplicity and shines with a bright, steady radiance. None but the Cardinals may enter the Temple, which is the abode of the Dawn-Bringer, though pilgrims are allowed to meditate in the broad plaza which surrounds the hill.
