The Marina District is a realm of very angry elemental spirits who are not pleased at the way they have been tamed by the city planners. Water spirits who once inhabited swamps and parts of the bay now filled, the earth spirits who have been relocated and shaped to accomplish this, and animal and plant spirits deprived of their homes firmly support the Court of the Dragon, particularly after the 1989 earthquake showed that its patron could return this place to the bay, where it belongs. This region is also home, however, to staunch supporters of the opposing court who feed off of the Essence of countless tourists who visit the waterfront. The artificial spirits aren't as strong here as they are in, say, the Financial District, but they hold their own against their angry predecessors. This area is also home to some rather strong wind spirits, who are responsible for the fine boating weather.
