Also known as Eureka Valley, the Castro is the core of San Francisco's gay community. It is south of the Haight, west of the Mission District, east of Twin Peaks, and north of Noe Valley. It transformed from "Little Scandinavia" to a working-class Irish neighborhood in the 30s and then to its current demographic after the Summer of Love.

Castro Street is a powerful presence in the neighborhood as is the famous Castro Theatre and Harvey Milk's Camera Shop. The streets of the region teem with spirits of disease, death, and fear which are engaged in a prolonged war with spirits of community, hope, and anger. The spirits of lust which once were so common have been hunted almost to extinction except in a few notable areas, prey of both sides of the struggle. Throughout the region, areas of the Gauntlet have been weakened by Beshilu on the other side, allowing spirits easy passage into Twilight. The Rainbow Guard is slowly repairing these, as they can find them, but even their spiritual allies are hesitant to identify their location. There are also several Wounds scattered throughout the neighborhood which they have been trying hard to contain, but the power of the spirits within makes it difficult.
