Bast is the court academic of the Sun Court, carefully recording everything she can learn about Faerie and Wyrd. She also trades plane tickets, a new suit of clothes, and traveling money to new arrivals in exchange for their memories of Faerie.

Description

A tall (6'), sinuous woman covered in short black fur with a cat's head with amber eyes which glow faintly. Her hands have short retractable claws and she has a long, expressive tail. She has a poised manner, guarded and suspicious. She wears tight-fitting gowns with oriental patterns in primary colors and gold earrings, an ankh in the left ear and an eye of Horus in the right. She has a pleasantly feminine smell and a soft purr to her voice. Her fur shines faintly, like she was basking in sunlight.

Background

Mortal Life

Hannah Perkins was seventeen and unremarkable in most every way. She had been having an affair with her high school math teach for two weeks when, in 1977, their combined Vice opened the dressing mirror in his room to the Gate of Lust.

Durance

While he slept, she investigated and found herself lost in the goblin market. Chased into a back alley, she stumbled into the Hedge and was eventually found, having wandered past the desert into the Hedge proper, by the Cat Lord. He took her back to his home and made her one of his brood, taken by her curiosity and keen mind. She recalls long nights of pondering enigmas and exchanging riddles. She followed him into the dreams of mortal men to read the currents of the Wyrd and predict the future. Fascinated as she was, his fickle moods and casual cruelty eventually drove her to attempt to find her way home. It took her several attempts, each time outwitted by her clever Keeper and cruelly punished, but eventually she untangled the riddle of his lands and made it back to Sin City.

Changeling Life

It was 1992 when she returned to find her fetch gone off to college and a new life back on the East Coast. Her family were still in town, but she honestly had no desire to return to her mortal life. She was fascinated by Faerie. She gathered those with an aptitude for precognition among her new occult contacts and formed them into a prophecy circle while trading with other new arrivals for their memories of Faerie, trying to learn all she could. She joined Leo the Griff's motley before too long for the resources and safe place to work, serving as his court scribe, lore keeper, and soothsayer. She's attached to the Sun Court but isn't particularly invested in it. At times, she wishes she was with the other court for the freedom, but they have more limited resources and she's scared of its leadership. She keeps her Prophecy Circle to herself and also that she has learned the technique to read the future from mortal's dreams because it is highly damaging to them and she knows that Leo would forbid it.
