The Society of Gaia drew its original members from disparate nature-minded mages from throughout the Bay Area during the late 60s with the hopes of drawing on the activist spirit on the campus to effect change in Sleeper society. They still hold to that goal, though they have experienced ups and downs as attitudes and political realities have changed. The ideology of the group has shifted somewhat from the Eastern and Native philosophical approaches popular in their era of their founding to a more technology-friendly approach. The more traditional element of the cabal is represented by its Stormkeeper element and this new approach is embodied in the Neocologists.
The core legacies of the cabal are the Stormkeepers and Neocologists. It has close ties with the Mist Walkers but no member of that legacy is currently a permanent member of the Society.
