A tall, extremely athletic, Nordic man in his late 30s with short blond hair, a full beard neatly trimmed, pale blue eyes, and slightly tanned skin. There is a deep scar from the outside corner of his right eye back to his ear, which has a notching missing from the top and he is missing the pinky off his left hand. He wears a charcoal grey sweater, blue jeans, and heavy work boots. An iron-tipped whip (Gurim's Lash fetish) is coiled on his belt, which has a silver buckle depicting the five phases of the moon.

A charcoal gray wolf with no markings. Using Anybeast, he looks like a Siberian husky.

Storytelling Hints

Jason would feel completely alone in the world if not for his friendship with Jeffrey, which has sustained him through the years and kept him focused on his duties. The horrors of his life have hardened him considerably and he tends to come off as cold, suspicious, and intense. Those who get to know him, though, know that he takes great pride in his guardianship of the neighborhood and its people and that he is deeply loyal to his pack. He would give his life for Jeffrey, has a guarded respect for Penny and perhaps understands him best of any of the pack, dislikes Maggie, and is uncomfortable around Joshua because he is attracted to him.

Background

Jason Hellstrom was born to a Scandinavian wolf-blooded family that had been based out of the Castro since the 1910s. He was inducted into the Church of the Lighthouse and taught that family was the most important thing in the world and that honesty was the primary virtue. So when he realized at 17 that he was gay, though he agonized about it, he eventually revealed it to his parents. For the next two years, they attempted to purify him through disease, torture, and fire. The stress finally pushed him into his First Change and, somehow, he escaped. Days later, the Caballeros de los Dolores found him and took him in. It took months for both parties to learn to trust the other, but in the end he was inducted into their tribe and their pack, telling him what little he knew of his family and their church. In the end, this led to the Castro War, during which he remained loyal to his pack and killed his family, though the toll it took was harsh. When it was all over, he decided to leave and join the new Castro pack, unable to face his packmates knowing that the losses they suffered were at the hands of his kin. The years since, he has dedicated himself to his new pack and reviving his old neighborhood, though there are still people there, even family, who know what he's done and strike out at him. The Pure want his blood and he's been badly injured many times by both wolf-blooded and Uratha who have caught him unaware. These days, he keeps close to his pack and stays away from those he cares about who aren't Uratha, focusing on the mission.

Recent Events

Jason bears some hostility towards Lee for having taken leadership of the pack from Jeff, but is enough of a werewolf (and Rahu) to understand that she won the challenge and is the proper alpha. Still, his protectiveness towards his former alpha leaves some hard feelings there.
