Description

They appear as a collection of strong, powerful trees on the eastern slope of Buena Vista Park and speak in a choir of whispers almost lost among the sound of rustling branches and leaves.

Storytelling Hints

The Grove is mostly concerned with the health of their park and is more a hive-mind than a single consciousness, being a forest spirit rather than a tree spirit. Their regard for the rest of the city is fleeting except in a very broad sense. That is, they would be concerned about a threat to the city as a whole (earthquake, fire) but not less urgent or specific threats.

Background

The Grove were among the first trees planted during the drive to tame the Great Sand Waste. They were awakened by the Phalen family and have been allies with them ever since. While this makes them some of the elder tree spirits in the city, they are young by the standards of their choir and so have chosen to ally themselves with the Phoenix Court rather than the Court of the Bay. Their arrangement with the Phalens requires the family to work to preserve the green areas of the city.
