Greater Gaffling, Abstract Spirit, Emotional Choir

Description

It appears as a man in an expensive suit with a calculator, sizing everything up and working out its worth. Whatever it looks at feels its appraising gaze.

Storytelling Hints

Nothing is free. Everything is better if it costs more. Any negotiation will be pushed until it can get as much as it can. The more garish, obscene, and crass the chiminage, the better.

Background

Commercialism is a spirit of greed and enterprise, particularly as a corruption of idealism and sincerity. It crept into the Haight in the very beginning, even before the Death of the Hippie parade and has been extending its influence ever since. It Claimed a host back in the 70s and wasn’t ousted until the early 90s, during which time it used its influence to taint the neighborhood as much as it could. It is now in the market for a new host to continue its work. It has an ally in Style but many of the ideological spirits of the neighborhood despise it.
