Cyprus was reunified in the early 2020s, as part of a general reconciliation between Greece and Turkey in the aftermath of the Aegean War. Currently the island nation is a federal republic, with careful constitutional guarantees for both Greek and Turkish populations. It has been a full member of the European Union since 2037.
