Locus
The first temporary cross was erected on Mount Davidson in 1923 and since then several permanent ones have been erected, only to be destroyed. When the current steel and concrete cross was built, the attempts to remove it took the form of protests and legal action. Through it all, the cross has endured as a symbol of a city which has gone through a similar cycle of destruction and rebirth.
