Sanctum: San Cristobal Vineyards

The Coven of the Moon is the continuation of an old Dionysian cult based in the Sonoma Valley. The founders, Diego and Lidia San Cristobal, came to the area in 1830 after Mexico achieved indepedence to take ownership of a vineyard formerly owned by the Mission San Francisco Solano, the first in the valley. They were secret initiates of an old wine cult and had come to California driven by visions and portents. On arrival, they found that the vineyards contained a powerful hallow as well as a locus. The latter was claimed by a werewolf pack which the pair developed a close relationship with very early on due to a mutual respect for the natural world. Soon afterwards, they were attacked by a cabal of Banishers working out of the Mission Dolores but the united force was able to defeat them.

The San Cristobal Vineyard quietly flourished throughout the years, tended by the children and grandchildren of Diego and Lidia, who followed the ancient ways. Their relationship with the Uratha remained strong and, in time, the village of San Cristobal became populated almost entirely by wolf-blooded and proximi. The practices of the core cabal became the rites and traditions of the whole village. Inhabitants of the local Shadow even deferred to the reigning patriarch of the clan such that the werewolves began to rely on them to mediate matters with the spirit court. Such was their influence with the natural world that the winery was untouched by the phylloxera epidemic in the 1870s.

The previous leaders of the cabal died in an auto accident in 1985 and their fifteen-year-old daughter, Marina, was initiated into the cult, Awakening in the process.
