Many of the buildings in the Haight are solid and possessing of Awakened spirits and the street itself is distinct and influential, as much a spirit of the neighborhood as the physical thoroughfare. This is due both to the amount of Essence generated in the area over the years as well as to the general decay which followed its golden age. A vast teeming mass of spirits dwell in the buildings and alleys of this area, some positive like spirits of love, hope, and community, some negative like spirits of addiction, despair, and decay. The former tend to appear as hippies while the latter generally appear as homeless. Predation between the two groups is rampant and disturbing to witness, due to this tendency towards anthropomorphism.
