Notes

Lives in a modest flat on Masonic Avenue near Waller (a block from Buena Vista Park), does important rituals at the Wave Organ. Her day job is as a freelance private investigator, mostly using her contacts among the dead. She has a real problem with professional mediums.

Background

Born in 1978, was in a car accident when she was 13 that killed her parents and younger sister and left her in a coma for six months. When she woke up, she could see ghosts. She moved in with an aunt and got heavily into the goth scene, turning to drugs and alcohol to help her cope while she dabbled in the occult. Her aunt fell ill when she was 16 and spent the next three years slowly dying from breast cancer while her boyfriend committed suicide when she was 17 due to clinical depression. After an overdose and another near death experience at the age of 20, she shook off her addictions and applied herself hard to necromancy, finding teachers in the NYC occult scene while attending NYU and then doing graduate work at its Institute for the Study of the Ancient World. She was forced to drop out of college in 2002 due to a lack of money and increased pressure from local White Council wardens.

She moved to San Francisco later that same year after hearing that the White Council presence there was more lax. She quickly integrated into the local supernatural community and met Dr. Joan Lazarus and the two of them found they had something in common. Together, they attempted the resurrection of a small boy killed in a car accident in 2004 with limited success. They have made half a dozen attempts since, with increasing success when the body is freshly dead. Gail worked as an orderly for a couple years in the city before taking on a research position for a private investigator in 2006. By 2009, she had her own license and was mostly taking on work relating to estate settlement and accident investigations using her medium talents. Her spare time is consumed with necromantic research, generally involving summoning and interrogating the dead, whom she contacts by scouring antique shops for their fetters or attending funerals.

Other than her smoking vice, she lives a spartan (almost monastic) lifestyle. She hasn't had a serious relationship since her boyfriend died and hasn't had a casual one since she left NYC. She doesn't do drugs or drink and eats pragmatically. Her friends have taken issue with her lack of joy in living and tried to get her to indulge, but she's stubbornly resisted.
