Her grandmother fully supported her and she went to Berkeley to major in Japanese history. Shortly after gaining her undergraduate degree, though, she went through her first change. Rather than doing so under the gibbous moon, as seemed to suit her inclinations, she was an irraka. However, she took this as a sign and abandoned her study of history in order to train to become a ninja.
